To the high school boys riding bicycles on the all-purpose path through the Metroparks who were offended by my bralessness this evening:

My sympathies go out to you. It must be very difficult being a pubescent boy who has so little firsthand experience with breasts as to not realize that women do, in fact, have nipples under their shirts. Or that breasts, being attached to bodies, move around when said bodies move. In order to avoid wrecking your social status altogether, I recommend you keep your sad state of miseducation to yourself, and not spouting it at passersby in public.

Sincerely,

K.M.

1. Entrance examinations. FOR PUBLIC KINDERGARTEN. WTF, people? Since when did we insist on people going to pre-K boot camp before we'd allow them into our public schools? Are you 5 years old? Toilet trained? Speak your native language, whatever that may happen to be? YOU ARE READY FOR KINDERGARTEN. There is something seriously wrong with any society that says otherwise.

2. People who don't pull over for ambulances. Self-explanatory. I am so incredibly sick of this phenomenon. They're not just playing those sirens as a nifty sound effect, honest!

3. People who drop their children off at daycare in overnight diapers with 12+ hours worth of pee still in them. Let me tell you something: your child smells. Your child smells like old pee, and it's not making anyone fonder of him. Or you. I realize that you are busy, have a job to get to, and that your child may even be cranky and not like to be changed in the morning. Tough. It's your child, so suck it up and find the three and a half minutes to wipe her soggy butt before bringing her to school.

In other news, one of my kids peed on the potty today. YAY!

And I had one of those sneezes that sounds like a cough while I was helping one of my (not terribly verbal) kids wash his hands at the sink. He clapped me on the back twice and said "Better!" It was fantastic.

Plans are underway, and I am definitely moving to the east side in the early fall. I'm excited about it, and I think it'll be a good change for me. Nothing wrong with Berea, but I need more space, and it'll put me much closer to a lot of my Baha'i work. (But I no worries, I won't be deserting the Lakewood crew entirely. I'll still be around to annoy you incessantly as ever!)

What else? The sun is shining. I'm overdue on my newsletter article. I ought to write it instead of silly lj entries. That's about it!

Yesterday I spent in the sunshine, climbing over rocks and across trees and through water.

Today I am sunburnt and sore and happy.

Today I spoke to a friend with absolute confidence and listened with the same. I am still shocked. But I don't feel drained like when I speak to overcome fear. I feel like I could go back and climb all those rocks again, in the dark and with my aching arms. I feel like I could jump the sun.

Friday night: Yvonne's house, Cleveland folk, sweet potato pie, prayers
Saturday: clean hair, dress shopping in Coventry, Dean's house, west side folk, Doritos, prayers, paper airplanes
Sunday: George's Kitchen, breakfast club folk, omelets, Danna's house, VERY west side folk, children's class, arboretum, nap, Ah-Roma, Ah-Roma folk, chitchat, chai.
Monday: Writing. Parade? Folk? Hmm ...

Visiting Oberlin is so calming. I'm glad that our children's class there will be starting at the end of June, because that gives me a reason to drive down once a week.

Despite the afternoon nap on Danna's sofa, I'm exhausted. Off to bed with me.

how much caffeine will it take for me to make it through this Holy Day observance without falling asleep? This whole "two hours after sunset" thing is rough on those of us who are strictly solar-powered.

This is me keeping my mouth shut! No, Drama Llama, I will not feed you! Not tonight!

Life is really quite good. Let's be civil, feel safe, and enjoy it!

I beat NaPoWriMo! I had to resort to limericks on a couple of days, but I did write 30 first drafts in 30 days. In the process, I gave up exercise, television, pleasure reading, most of my already-limited social life, a fair bit of sleep, and sometimes lunch. But I did it! I win!

I'm going to stick to prose for a couple of weeks now, just to get the PoWri taste out of my mouth. I also have two newsletter articles due on Thursday that I thought were due on Saturday, so this will give me a chance to get them done. I've gotten lazy-brained and started watching Dollhouse on hulu, but I think I needed the mental holiday. I'm not addicted. Yet.

I've been keeping busy with Baha'i stuff, which is always good. Productive days are happier days, and it keeps me from getting weepy that I'm still in the country. I really do love my community.

What else? I'm hoping to get up to Louhelen for the Insights Young Adult gathering. I've had the chance to talk on the phone with a lot of amazing friends in the past week. I had a fantastic potluck at my house, with 8 grownups and 6 crazy little girls. I've started reading again, and things are pretty good!

Now to get ready for work.
